A nice piece of work from Nina

Nina Ripin, who spent some months in the lab as a Masters' student in 2011, is the lead author on a nice study focused on the RNA-binding properties of HuR in the latest PNAS. She has combined NMR and X-ray crystallography while working in Fred Allain's lab at ETH in Zurich to characterize the means by which this protein uses its RRM domains to bind to AU-rich RNA elements. You can read it here.

Lab Xmas bbq, 2018

This year, we had a return to the green lawn of Marrickville Croquet Club for our lab Xmas excursion. As always, a fine time was had by all - it really is a great venue for a day...

Taylor – our STEAMpunk star – in the media again

Lab alumna Taylor Szyszka has a position now at UTS where she is coordinating an outreach program for female high school students. It's a great program that is trying to reach both local and more distant schools in NSW and allowing them to highlight the contributions of *local* women across all these fields. The other day, she had an interview on local radio station 2SER describing the project - you can listen to it...

Wanted: postdoc biochemist/structural biologist to work with Richard Payne, Sydney/US startup INSAMO (and me). Goal: use cyclic peptide mRNA display to design cell-permeable peptide-based protein degraders: https://usyd.wd105.myworkdayjobs.com/USYD_EXTERNAL_CAREER_SITE/job/Darlington-Campus/Postdoctoral-Researcher-in--Peptide-Based-Drug-Discovery_0131612-1
